Orion Marine
Where we work

Vessels and projects we support.

Orion Marine supports commercial, offshore and special purpose vessels — from single electrical retrofits to full newbuilding scopes.

Vessel categories

Three categories, one standard of work.

The scope changes with the vessel. The accountability does not — here is what an engagement typically covers in each category.

Commercial

Commercial Vessels

Electrical outfitting, retrofit and technical support for cargo, container and general commercial fleets.

Container and cargo tonnage is where most of our shore power work sits, and not by accident — containerships are among the first vessel types the EU at-berth rules bite on, so owners are converting against a fixed date rather than a preference. Around that, the work is ordinary fleet support: switchboard and distribution retrofits, outfitting during scheduled dockings, spare parts sourced against a drydock window rather than after it opens.

  • Shore power (AMP) conversion and commissioning
  • Switchboard, distribution and cable retrofits
  • Electrical outfitting during scheduled dockings
  • Spare parts sourcing planned to the dock date
Offshore

Offshore Vessels

Commissioning, testing and ISM compliance support for offshore support and specialist operating vessels.

Offshore support and specialist operating vessels carry more electrical complexity per metre than most commercial tonnage, and they are harder to take out of service. That pushes the work towards careful commissioning and testing, staged so systems can be proven without standing the whole vessel down, plus the documentation and compliance support that keeps her on station.

  • Function and insulation testing on installed systems
  • Controlled commissioning and sea trial attendance
  • ISM documentation and internal audit support
  • Class and flag liaison through the modification
Special Purpose

Special Purpose Vessels

Tailored engineering and shipyard coordination for vessels with non-standard or mission-specific requirements.

Mission-specific vessels rarely fit a standard scope, which means the value is mostly in the coordination: getting the right yard, sequencing trades that would otherwise collide, and keeping one technical position in front of everyone involved. We act as the owner's representative on site and hold the electrical and outfitting scope ourselves where it makes sense.

  • Yard selection and vetting against the actual scope
  • On-site owner's representation through the build
  • Bespoke electrical and outfitting engineering
  • Schedule, budget and quality oversight
Project scope

How projects typically run

Every engagement follows the same accountable process, regardless of vessel type or scope size.

  1. 01

    Understand

    Scope & site review

We assess the vessel, yard and operational constraints to define a realistic scope.

  2. 02

    Connect

    Team & supply mobilisation

We bring in the right electrical, shipyard and procurement resources for the job.

  3. 03

    Deliver

    Execution & handover

We execute, test and document, then hand over with full compliance records.
