Ship Brokerage

Ship Brokerage

Voyage and time charter brokerage for cargo owners, charterers and shipowners — thorough market search, sharp negotiation and close follow-through, from first enquiry to signed charter party.

Brokerage

Matching cargo to the right ship

A fixture starts with a requirement: a cargo that needs a ship, or a ship that needs employment. We take that requirement, search the market for suitable counterparts, and negotiate the commercial terms on our principal's behalf through to a signed charter party.

Whether a fixture works often turns on technical questions — what a vessel can actually carry, how she performs on the intended trade, and the condition of her equipment. We ask them from the start.

Scope

What we do

From the first enquiry to the signed charter party.

  • Cargo requirements

Cargo, quantity, ports, laycan and terms, set down clearly before the market is approached.

  • Suitable tonnage

Vessels matched on size, type, position and specification, not on availability alone.

  • Market search

Open positions and cargoes searched across the market, to find real options.

  • Negotiation

Commercial terms negotiated on our principal's behalf, from the first offer to the recap.

  • Fixture support

Follow-up from the recap to the signed charter party, and contact while the fixture runs.

How it runs

From enquiry to fixture

Three stages, with people at every one of them.

  1. 01

    Brief

    The requirement

The cargo or the vessel, the dates and the terms are set down before anything goes to the market.

  2. 02

    Search

    Market search and shortlist

Suitable counterparts are found and compared, and a shortlist goes back to the principal.

  3. 03

    Fix

    Negotiation and fixture

Terms are negotiated to a recap and a signed charter party, with follow-up while the fixture runs.

FAQ

Questions about ship brokerage

What kinds of charter do you broker?
Voyage charters and time charters — for cargo owners and charterers looking for tonnage, and for shipowners looking for cargo.
What is CharterDeck?
CharterDeck is our technology-supported brokerage desk. It helps us structure enquiries and compare vessels faster; people still negotiate and agree every fixture. You can find it at charterdeck.io.
What do you need to get started?
For a cargo: the commodity, quantity, load and discharge ports, laycan and any vessel requirements. For a vessel: her particulars and her open position and date. Send it to us and we'll come back with options.

Have a cargo or a vessel to fix?

Send us the requirement through the contact form, or write to chartering@orionnmar.com. We'll come back with real options from the market.
